Chapel: The Fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23

This was a busy Spirit Week!

  • On Monday we celebrated Valentine’s Day.
  • On Tuesday, we joined in prayer with Christian schools throughout the world on ACSI’s Day of Prayer.
  • Wednesday was Crazy Sock Day.
  • On Thursday, we celebrated the 100th day of school!
  • We ended Spirit Week on Friday with Crazy Hair Day.

Our chapel today was a culmination of our Spirit Week. We sang “The Fruit of the Spirit,” and talked about the fruit of God’s Spirit, reading from Galatians 5:22-23.

We discussed the different manifestations of the Spirit, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and goodness, against which there is no law. No policeman can pull someone over and issue a ticket for being too good, having too much faith, or being too kind. There is just no law against being filled with the Spirit. An example of this happened in Mr. Barker’s class yesterday. In the middle of a project, one of the boys dropped his materials on the floor. Brice immediately said, “Can I help you?” He got down on the floor and the others joined him in picking up all the materials that were spread all over the floor.

These students were an example of being kind and patient; a teacher would not be upset at the class for these actions. We get fruit like an apple from the apple tree; we can get the fruit from the Tree of Life of the Spirit. We ask the Lord to continue to bring this fruit into our lives.
