Chapel: Thanksgiving
The Thanksgiving season is upon us! This is the time of year we celebrate being thankful for the people and things in our lives. With a warm, gracious heart, we can join with the Father. Put aside any coldness in your heart! Through openness we make our strongest connections-with each other and with the Lord.
Let’s read Psalm 100:1-5 for an in-depth look at thankfulness.
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before Him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is He who made us, and we are His;
we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving
and His courts with praise;
give thanks to Him and praise His name.
5 For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;
His faithfulness continues through all generations.
Verse 1: The Lord doesn’t care what you sound like when you worship-he just wants it be joyful! He doesn’t care about perfection. He cares about what’s in your heart.
Verse 2: We serve him with gladness through singing. We don’t EVER need to shrink back in fear because we have a heart for the Lord.
Verse 3: We are His people. God is looking after us. He’ll take care of us. We can go into a test or do our homework with confidence because we believe with the Lord we can do anything. We can obey our parents and bless them through honoring them as we do unto the Lord. He can carry us through everything. We will not be moved.
Verse 4: Enter His gates through Thanksgiving. You can thank the Lord for how He is guiding you. You’ll find that you start moving in the will of God!
Verse 5: We should be setting the Lord before us. We won’t find ourselves discouraged, sad, worried, or self-pitying because His presence won’t allow that. If you come into His presence, you find consistent thankfulness.
For next week, find a scripture or something else to represent what you’re thankful for! We’ll make our own cornucopia.
