Our Recognition and Celebration of Yom Kippur

An important and unique part of the Centers of Learning Bible curriculum involves the celebration of the Biblical Feasts of Purim, Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles.

Why is this part of our curriculum? The Bible states that these feasts are to be celebrated throughout your generations (Leviticus 23:39-44) and there is evidence in the New Testament that Jesus and His apostles celebrated these feasts (Luke 2:41; John 7:2-14; Acts 2:1). At Centers of Learning, these celebrations not only bring Biblical characters and events to life, but are also memorable school traditions and a special time of relating among the students.

Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, is the most important of these holidays. It symbolizes the time in which we renew our commitment to God.

This year, Centers of Learning has decided to observe Yom Kippur as a school holiday. We will forgo the observance of Columbus Day (as does the Los Angeles Unified School District). Enjoy your Yom Kippur holiday on Friday the 29th of September!
