Mid-Cycle Accreditation Review

Monday marked the completion of our Centers of Learning’s two-day mid-cycle accreditation visit from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). At our initial visit three years ago, we received WASC’s longest six-year accreditation term. This visit was WASC’s three-year checkup to ensure our progress in each of the recommendations from that first visit. We are happy to announce that we passed with flying colors!

It was a wonderful visit! On Sunday the WASC committee met first with Mrs. Grill and Mrs. Raba, then with the board of directors,  parents, and teachers. They received very positive feedback from our parents. Monday began early at 7:15 a.m. when the committee met with school leadership. Later, they met with student representatives, visited classrooms to observe teachers and students, and had a luncheon meeting with the faculty.

Some of the committee’s note-worthy observations were the school’s family atmosphere and close culture, the rigorous classwork, and student engagement in classes. Students voiced how much they enjoy their teachers and the school environment, and it was obvious to the committee that the students feel incredibly safe, and that there is an environment where they feel free to approach any of their teachers with both academic and personal issues. We love our amazing teachers!

This weekend’s visit was a great opportunity to look back at all the hard work that has gone into the creation of the school. In the past three years, we have launched an online distance education program that is serving students from all over the world. We have created a blended learning experience for all students that includes in-class and online tools that will prepare students for college life. One such tool is Moodle, an online learning management system where students can find their syllabus and course materials, as well as turn in assignments and participate in discussions and collaborative projects. These additions to our brick-and-mortar school are preparing our students for the academic world that lies beyond graduation while facilitating our spiritual values. Thank you, Lord, for how far we’ve come.  We look forward to all we can accomplish in the next three years!
